Robert, I find the lifting heel part of Lesson One just comes naturally after the shifting of the weight. Two years ago I had a total hip replacement of my left hip after a lifelong struggle with it. I was a little worried about going up on either leg solo, but after a few repitions of lesson one I feel much safer and more balanced.

Thanks for responding to Robert's question. One student that comes to my class has two hip replacements and is moving through her tai chi moves with grace and confidence.
